“Can’t find the proper words to express our joy at the H.J.A, got enough sleeping pads now.An early x-mas gift for us,long live Soar-Kenya.”Marium
Soar -Kenya had a wonderful turnout at their annual banquet and silent auction. The food was great, the music was great and the items for sale were great. It can’t get better then that! We all realize that everyone is feeling the crunch of our slowed economy so we feel really blessed to be able to have this support. We have so many wonderful projects we want to support in Kenya. Our friends,neighbors,co-workers and volunteers really helped provide this years banquet with items for sale, the great salads and desserts and of course the support. We will do our best to see to it that 100% of the money goes to help the people of Kenya with sustainable projects. I was able to deposit 5,829.18 from the banquet. I received 265.00 today in the mail and we also have several items delivered and to be delivered ,that we will be receiving money from. So far the total is 6094.18 and I will continue to update as contributions come in. Beyond the financial support it is a good feeling to know that so many people want to help with the freedom for girls, the water projects, the orphan support, etc. I hope to post photos soon. Many many thanks, Mary-Treasurer of Soar-Kenya
Hi Mary, everything is okay here, only a few.It had been predicted that there was going to be famine, but later after crusades were held for repentance, the prophet said it is going to rain soon next month. So people were told to prepare their land for planting. All the crops we had planted dried up after rain went.Only Hopewell has food due to irrigation carried on.The food is enough, but kids don’t take home. Some is sold in town.I and my friends buy the vegetables from Barut every evening after school. When school closes they can not be left to go bad,so they are sold before we open. The stoves are doing a good job they make our lunch ready on time. The tank is okay,it keeps some water when it rains. The library is okay and we have little time to read in,did you send computers? We are not lucky since we are about to go,we only have little knowledge on them.We wishes we had a camera,we would send you photos with Frankline of school progress. The one you gave us can’t develop photos and send easily through internet. It had also been said that there will be
el nino of which most don’t believe. How is Don?He is so quite, greet him very much, tell Mary Anne Stephen said hi,see you, always, good bye[kwaheri].
Soar Kenya received some update photos of the many projects being worked on at Hopewell High School and Preschool in Nakuru, Kenya. The first photo is of the drip irrigation system installed and working! Second is new faucets at the school. Third is of the newly rebuilt rabbit pens, (compliments of Mason). The forth pic is workers in the fields preparing the beds and planting. The fifth is a photo of the playground equipment Don put up while there in January. Hope you enjoy.
The 40 foot cargo load of clothes, medical, textbooks, sporting equipment and office suppies will be setting sail in Oct. Soar-K has had a lot of delays in this endeavor. We were hoping to send in June but the paperwork is overwhelming. Ruth Gibbs is to be thanked for working so hard on this. The items on this container will be supplying the new library and school. We have attempted to donate items needed to further vocational educational needs. The cargo has supplies such as welding, nursing, hair cutting, woodworking tools, sewing machines, etc. If anyone is interested in a full itemized copy of cargo container please e-mail. We are accepting donations toward the shipping costs. Thankyou
