The dedication of just two people-Ruth and Steve

Continuing Education

In October of 2007 I had the priviledge of meeting these three young men, who were teacher’s aids at Hopewell High School; Daniel Owuor, Eutycus Mbuthia, Peterson Macharia. They had all taken their final high school exams in 2005.

After receiving an email from the principal of Hopewell, Mr. Rashid, asking for monetary assistance for their education, Steve and I decided to sponsor the three young men.

I am not sure if Daniel and Peterson’s parents are still with us, but Eutycus lost his mother in March of 2006 and his father in November of 2008.

The Kenyan school year consists of 3 semesters so the three young men started in April, 2008.

April 12, 2008 Sent $1,412.00.

July 16, 2008 Sent $1,625.00.

Nov. 18, 2008 Sent $1,840.00

Mar. 13, 2009 Sent $1,740.00

July 30, 2009 Sent $2,500.00

Nov. 9, 2009 Sent $1,500.00

It is my understanding that their graduation will be in mid-July of 2010.

In an email from Vitalice, the Director of Hopewell, on October 27, 2009 all three young men have landed jobs at Hopewell High School. Daniel is the Administrative Officer Handling General Administration Issues, Eutycus is the Deputy Principal specifically handling all academic matters and Peterson is the Sponsorship officer in charge of student welfare.

Steve and I would like to commend Daniel, Eutycus and Peterson for we could not be any prouder of these three young men, even if they were our own sons. We know they will go far to help out their fellow man in Kenya.
